Zakat (زكاة) (from the word tazakka - purify) (English: almsgiving or tithing) is a charity that must be given a Muslim who is able to 8 groups (asnaf) are entitled to receive it. He is the third pillar of the Five Pillars of Islam.
From Sura At-Taubah (2009), paragraph 103:
(103) خذ من أموالهم صدقة تطهرهم وتزكيهم بها وصل عليهم إن صلاتك سكن لهم والله سميع عليم

According to the lecture content of Islam that is said by the former Mufti Perlis Dr. Mohd Asri bin Zainul Abidin, he has said that Saidina Umar Al-Khattab once said that: "Give alms to someone (the poor), it becomes rich." Dr ust.
